New Zealand’s housing isn’t up to scratch and we want to change that.
Jandal Alley is here to push the boundaries, creating innovative, high quality, affordable housing with councils, iwi and property developers. We love a good challenge and we know you’re facing them. Together, let’s shake things up.
What’s in it for you
Jandal Alley wants to change the affordable housing landscape and to do that we need community partners. We’re here to help you meet the housing needs of your communities, with creative, people-focused solutions. When you decide to work with us, you’re making a decision to build sustainable communities that enable people to stay within their community surrounded by their loved ones.
We don’t just build affordable houses, we build communities
This means:
- We’ll partner with you to build the affordable homes you may not have capacity to supply.
- Our solutions put our partners’ and the community’s needs first.
- If you’ve got difficult land, our remediation expertise offers practical solutions.
- Minimising remediation costs is our competitive advantage.
- We’ll create sustainable and eco-friendly solutions wherever possible.
We build with integrity, meaning your value targets are just as important to us as your financial ones. Our developments incorporate innovative features such as community gardens, larger walkways built for groups, and other features that help bring people together.
Ultimately, we’re focused on the end user - the Kiwi families who will benefit from beautiful, high-quality homes reflecting best value and affordability. If your community needs us, let’s start the conversation.

Bringing
New Zealand
Values back to
New Zealand
Why we do it
Every Kiwi has the right to a warm, dry, affordable home – we want to contribute to this becoming a reality.
Over 24 years in the property and construction industry, we’ve seen the worst of New Zealand’s housing market - cold, leaky, asbestos-ridden and extravagantly priced homes. First home seekers, working families, recently separated families and retirees find it tough to secure a place of refuge and safety as the rapidly moving property ladder prices them away from their own whanau, neighbours, schools and jobs.
New Zealanders deserve better. Much better. Our communities need improved insulation, sustainable heating options
and more eco-friendly building methods. We also offer rental options, which among other benefits allow pets and communal facilities for primary healthcare initiatives and group activities.
Jandal Alley will change the way you see affordable homes
We’re out to prove affordable doesn’t have to mean cheap or ugly. Our properties are high-quality, expertly designed AND affordable. We believe in the difference these homes can make to the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve. With our homes, everyday Kiwis across the country will
gain the security, self-esteem and self-worth that comes from home ownership and participation.
Every development is different, because every community is different
We listen to the needs of our communities and tailor creative solutions to meet those needs. But one thing stays the same - we will always strive to create eye-catching, affordable homes that everyday New Zealanders can be proud of.
If your community needs creatively-designed, high quality, affordable homes, let’s talk.
Who are we

Liz McMaster
Liz is a fixer. If something isn’t working, she doesn’t moan about it, she sorts it out. With a background in health and safety, HR, and civil works project management, Liz has deep insights into effective and safe site remediation practices. She’s spent 17 years in the construction industry but her focus reaches beyond building houses.
Liz is the heart of Jandal Alley - driven by a desire to see New Zealand families proud of their communities and their collective achievements again. She wants those at the front end of solving the housing crisis to be able to choose a socially-focused organisation that is innovative and trustworthy.

James Brown
If Liz is the heart of Jandal Alley, James is the nuts and bolts. Looking after the day-to-day operations, his background in finance and property development means he’s the perfect person to crunch the numbers and manage the finer details of Jandal Alley’s projects.
James has spent more than a decade living in Sweden, tackling housing issues there. He believes New Zealanders deserve better access to quality shelter, warmth and security where they can enjoy healthy living and contribute to building their community of choice throughout their lifespan. James is passionate about the health of our communities and the role safe, dry housing can play in that.
